House Bill 1041 and House Bill 1043: Maryland’s 25 year Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) Program
This legislation will put into place structures that will offer improved economic pathways and will hold state contractors accountable for providing marketable work skills, address racial inequities, and report on actual outcomes about how the state is performing in moving people out of poverty.
House Bill 456: Safety Net Expansion Bill
This bill increases to $40 the minimum benefit for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) for economically struggling seniors.
House Bill 1248: Reporting of Child Abuse Allegations
This bill will increase oversight, clarify reporting procedures as well as support our social workers in providing a more fair assessment of caseloads.
House Bill 1026
This bill will add a Commissioner with “recent lived experience in poverty” to the state’s Two Generation Economic Security Commission. It is crucial for commissioners to hear directly from an individual who has lived in poverty in order to develop better policies.
Bond Bill for Bowie State University
Following the 2021 Bond funding of $50,000 for the Bowie State University Goodloe Alumni House, this bill furthers funding of $25,000 for this project.
